Vitamin D is essential for maintaining healthy bones, supporting the immune system, and aiding calcium absorption. It is produced naturally in the skin through sunlight exposure and obtained through certain foods.

The test measures 25-hydroxyvitamin D, the main form circulating in the blood and the most reliable indicator of vitamin D status. As highlighted in the summary section on page 1, deficiency has been linked to a wide range of health conditions, including osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease, and immune-related disorders.

This test provides a quick screening result, but any abnormal findings should be confirmed with laboratory testing and professional medical advice.
