It is particularly useful for individuals prone to UTIs, including women, older adults, or those wanting a quick at-home screening.
Each kit includes:
- Test strips with 4 reagent areas
- Plastic urine collection cup
- Colour comparison chart
- Instructions for use
You will also need:
- Collect a urine sample in the provided cup (morning urine is recommended).
- Dip the test strip into the urine for 1–2 seconds, ensuring all test areas are covered.
- Remove the strip and wipe off excess urine.
- Wait 2 minutes.
- Compare the colour changes on each test pad with the provided chart.
Do not read results after 3 minutes.
- Positive result: Any colour change in one or more test areas may indicate infection or abnormal findings.
- Negative result: No colour change across all test areas suggests normal levels.
A positive result does not necessarily confirm a UTI but indicates that something may be abnormal. You should consult a healthcare professional for further testing and diagnosis. If symptoms persist despite a negative result, medical advice is also recommended.
Urinary tract infections occur when bacteria enter the urinary system, affecting the bladder, urethra, or kidneys. This test checks for multiple indicators:
- Leukocytes: Suggest inflammation or infection
- Nitrite: Indicates bacteria that convert nitrates to nitrites
- Blood: May be linked to infection, stones, or irritation
- Protein: Can signal inflammation or kidney involvement
It’s important to note that results can be influenced by factors such as medications, hydration, or sample contamination. This test is a useful screening tool, but results should always be confirmed by a healthcare professional.
